THE CHALLENGE
Brady Corporation wanted to develop their e-Commerce capabilities using Seton, a Brady company that direct markets identification products for the workplace, as their first e-Commerce site. As part of the development of Seton.com, the site needed to be tested with actual customers to get a user's perspective on whether the site met their needs.

THE SOLUTION
SpectraCom undertook a two-phase study to evaluate the usability of the Seton Web site. The first phase was one-on-one usability interviews with Seton customers; the second phase was an online survey with visitors to the Seton Web site. In the interviews we found that customers were happy with the amount of information and products available on the Seton site, but had some trouble accessing all of the information.
In the survey, we were able to determine where users expected different types of information to be located and what they expected for different main navigation category names. By making some small changes to the text, navigation and category names used on the site, Seton was able to increase the usability of their site. The improved usability helped the site meet management objectives and provide better ROI.
